... about Clogging ...

Just as America is considered the "Great Melting Pot" of the peoples of the world, modern clogging can be considered the "melting pot" of the dance world....

Clogging has its roots in many dance forms, and it is easy to see some of those influences come through when watching a clogger perform. There are hints of tap, Irish Step, flatfooting, Country Western line dance, some Square Dance moves, hand and arm movements borrowed from jazz influences, etc....

Today's clogger can be found in many styles of clothing, anywhere from the traditional western wear (men in long pants with western shirts, ties, and cowboy hats; women in skirts with petticoats and pettipants) to the more stylized competition look of spandex, glitter and sequins; and of course everything in between. Most cloggers wear a leather oxford style shoe with "jingle" taps affixed to the toe and heel for optimum noise. However, the Rock 'N' Country Cloggers enjoy wearing modern everyday clothing such as black slacks, then we throw in a bit of glitz and glam to polish the outfit up! Check out our Photo Albumn for more on what we wear.

The music used by today's clogger varies from the traditional bluegrass, modern country, swing, pop, rock, latin, showtunes...basically anything with a good strong beat.
